Congratulations to all starCCAT Faculty, Gretchen Lemmink, MD, FCCM, on being inducted as a Fellow of theAmerican College of Critical Care Medicine at this year’s SCCM Congress!

We’re excited to share that UC Health Anesthesiology is forming a team for the 2026 Cincinnati Heart Mini-Marathon & Walk on March 15, 2026 — and we’d love for you to be part of it!

Our team name is “Wake Me at the Finish Line”, a lighthearted nod to what you all do every day while supporting a cause that’s incredibly close to home. As anesthesiology providers, the heart is central to your work — from managing complex cases to caring for patients during some of their most vulnerable moments. This event is a chance to support heart health beyond the walls of the hospital, together.

There are a few ways to participate:

• Join the team and walk or run with us on race day

• Donate to support heart health and the mission of the American Heart Association

• Cheer us on and help spread the word

Our department recently completed another successful medical mission trip to Belize with Partners for Medial Relief. 

Week 1 hosted a new group of surgeons providing much needed GYN surgeries across 2 hospital systems. Shout out to the team of Drs. Alcibiade, Arrabal, CRNA's Jordan Crouch, Rachael Peck, Chelsea Thomason, SRNA's Kaycie Harmon, Holden Simon, and Theresa Studer for navigating these challenges and providing safe and excellent anesthesia care. 

Week 2's team consisted of Drs. Alcibiade, Edward's (UF), Kang (Duke), McKee (CA3), and Yeatts (CA3). They provided great anesthetic care for both pediatric and adult patients with a team of ENT and facial plastic surgeons.

If you're interested in getting involved, let us know! Our department is often involved in P4MR's Belize trips at two different times of year.   They also host many other specialties on their medical village teams. There are also a few other global health opportunities that regularly present themselves to our department. Shout out to anyone and everyone who’s been involved in these trips in the past!
